Welcome a World of Darkness Roleplay! If you're familiar with forum roleplaying, then a lot of what you'll find in here may be familiar. However, there's sure to be a lot of useful information for everyone. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to a member of the staff team.
Before you read ahead, please check out our General Rules and Roleplay Rules.
Our Setting
WoD RP is a fan-made roleplaying community set in the eponymous World of Darkness universe currently published by Paradox Interactive. You can check out their official website here. While it is our aim to follow the latest editions of WoD as closely as possible, so far Paradox has only released the 5th Edition of Vampire: The Masquerade with the 5th Edition of Werewolf: The Apocalypse coming soon. As such, we are currently relying on existing WoD lore found on the unofficial White Wolf wiki. Which includes Vampire: The Masquerade, Werewolf: The Apocalypse, Mage: The Ascension, Changeling: The Dreaming, and Hunter: The Reckoning as our primary source materials.
Anything that is from Chronicles of Darkness (confusing, we know!) belongs to a concurrent but ultimately separate setting, and does not pertain to this board. We also have yet to incorporate anything from Wraith: Oblivion, Demon: The Fallen, Orpheus, or other WoD materials into our setting. So if you don't see them here, that's why--though you may include stuff from those games into our roleplay (aside from playable characters).
Beyond official WoD content, World of Darkness Roleplay is set in the fictional city of Santa Noche, located in Northern California's Redwood Empire. Santa Noche was secretly founded by vampires and is inhabited by all sorts of monsters to this very day.
Navigating The Board
Navigation on our board is pretty straight forward. Aside from the actual forums, everything on relevance is located handedly in the navigation menu at the top of every page.
Creating a Character & Managing Sub-Accounts
Now that you know more about the setting and understand how to navigate the website, the final step before you can roleplay is to create a character!
Our forum has a feature--one you may be familiar with--called sub-accounts. A sub-account looks and acts like a normal registered account, except it's tied to your primary user account and can be seamlessly switched to or posted from without logging in and out of separate accounts.
Creating a sub-account is as simple as clicking on the "link" icon and then clicking "Create new sub account" below. All of your existing sub-accounts will show up under this button as well.
Once inside, you'll see some fields that look like you're registering a brand new account. Ignore the very first form called "Link an existing account" which is only if you want to link together primary accounts.
The second field, shown below in the spoiler, is where you can name your character. It also lets you set an email and password in-case you want to log into them separately, but this is unnecessary and not recommended.
After you've created your sub-account, you can access it through the sub-account menu (the "link" button) at any point and switch between accounts. Next up is to customize your character profile! Below is a step-by-step guide.
Customizing Your Character
Click on your user profile in the navigation menu, then click account details. Other than changing your profile picture, there are some important things you should fill out as seen below.

1.) A line of text which will display under your username on your posts. This can be a short quote, a title, anything you want really.
2.) Your pronouns can be displayed as well. They'll show up under your message count on posts.
3.) You are required to select a monster type for your character from this list. This will display a custom banner below your user role banner (for example, you can see Werewolf displayed under mine). It takes 60 seconds or less for this to update.
4.) You are required to link your character sheet. This will create a clickable link to your character sheet in all of your posts.
Everything else displayed will only show up on your expanded user profile and not in any of your posts. Nothing is required except that which I've specified as such.
Posting As Your Character
Now you're ready to get posting! One of the wonderful things about sub-accounts, is that you don't have to switch to them in order to post as them. You can use our "post as" feature whenever you're writing a post or creating a thread, as seen below.

Before you read ahead, please check out our General Rules and Roleplay Rules.
